Our goal is to become a single-point-of-reference for the publication of performance measures for private healthcare. However, there are other providers of information, services and expertise in this area. We hope the following links are helpful:
The ABI provides consumers with general information on insurance and savings products and services. They promote best practice, transparency and high standards within the industry and work with government, regulators and policymakers – to ensure the insurance industry meets the highest standards.
The CQC is the independent regulator of health and adult social care in England. They make sure health and social care services provide people with safe, effective, compassionate, high-quality care and we encourage care services to improve.
  • Federation of Independent Practitioner Organisations (FIPO): (
FIPO represents the majority of the medical professional's organisations in Britain that have private practice committees. FIPO provides guidance, policies and co-ordination to many specialist committees. FIPO also acts to promote the highest standards of clinical care, reflecting FIPO's concern to put the patient first.
  • Independent Healthcare Sector Complaints Adjudication Service: (
The Independent Sector Complaints Adjudication Service (ISCAS) provides independent adjudication on complaints about ISCAS subscribers. ISCAS is a voluntary subscriber scheme for the vast majority of independent healthcare providers.​
The Independent Healthcare Providers Network (IHPN), previously known as the NHS Partners Network, is a hosted network of the NHS Confederation, and is the representative body for independent sector healthcare providers. The Network was established in 2005 as a body to represent independent sector providers of NHS clinical services, and was incorporated into the broader NHS Confederation in June 2007. In 2018 it was announced that the Network would expand its remit to cover all services delivered by our members including NHS and privately-funded care.
NHS Choices was launched in 2007 and is the official website of the National Health Service in England. With over 48 million visits per month, the website has become the UK's biggest health website accounting for a quarter of all health-related web traffic. It is a leading, multi-channel service for everyone engaging with the NHS and social care.
NHS Digital is the national provider of information, data and IT systems for commissioners, analysts and clinicians in health and social care. It sets standards and guidelines in the field of data collection and reporting and helps health and care organisations improve the quality of the data they collect.
