Dr Natalie-Jane Macdonald is currently CEO of Sunrise Senior Living UK. She studied Medicine at Glasgow University and trained in acute medicine, subsequently becoming a Lecturer in the Department of Medicine at Glasgow University. In 1990 she became Head of Medical Ethics at the British Medical Association and in 1995 joined Bupa, the international health care company, where she undertook a variety of leadership roles over 15 years; latterly as Managing Director of Bupa’s UK PMI and clinics business. She left Bupa to run Acorn Care and Education, a PE-backed children’s services business which was sold in 2016. She has been a non-executive director at Which?, and an associate non-executive director at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and is currently a NED at Nuffield Health.
